Background

Replica was created in 1981 by Douglas Plumer as a full service production company to serve the needs of primarily Corporate and Educational clients. We are still heavily involved in this market and do projects for organizations such as Subaru, Nantucket Nectars and The Massachusetts Institute of Technology on an ongoing basis. Over the last ten years we have also undertaken broadcast sports program creation and packaging on a variety of subjects with a concentration on motorsports and sailing. We have developed several series for Sportschannel, ESPN, and Speed Channel that are currrently airing internationally to over 100 million Households.

Facilities

Replica has a midtown Manhattan facility which house On-Line and Off-Line edit suites, a narration booth and an insert studio. We offer the speed and flexibility of the Avid, Non- linear editing system for quick turn around projects as well as traditional A/B roll editing in all major formats. We are currently equipped with Chyron Infinte! Graphic systems for Broadcast font passes, and offer on-site duplication in DVD or VHS formats.

Equipment

We currently own three Broadcast production packages--two BetaSP rigs, and a DSR 500 WS package for 16:9 projects. Replica has also built six, digital on-board packages for POV work. Comprised of a DV format recorder, miniature switcher, and two DV cameras each, these units provide hard to get shots that enhance any sports action package. All equipment is packaged in custom cases and travels easily around the world for location work.

Our philosophy is to provide the finest images possible in a cost effective environment. We own every piece of equipment necessary to make this happen. As technology changes we will be updating our facilities to remain on the cutting edge of technology. Clients who require specific additional hardware can be accommodated through short term rental locally, or on location around the world.

People

Replica is in the unique position of providing the utmost in flexibility to its clients.

With the exception of four full-time employees, our staff is entirely freelance. This allows us to get exactly the right crew from Boston's extensive talent pool for each specific project. We have working relationships with shooters, audio technicians, gaffers, and editors that extend over twenty-three years. Clients get the talent they need, without the overhead.

This flexibility extends to out of town productions as well. We have resources around the world that allow us to save travel costs and secure excellent, qualified, personnel wherever the shoot is located.
